Muscogee (Creek) Nation Junior Botball® Challenge and Botball® Application

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation, in partnership with the KISS Institute for Practical Robotics, is providing grants for elementary and middle schools within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation to participate in the Junior Botball® Challenge and Botball® programs.

The programs will focus on implementing the Junior Botball® Challenge and/or Botball® by providing professional development for educators that is motivating to their students as they apply content skills in a meaningful hands-on way and encourages them to think about and consider STEM degrees and careers using inquiry-based applications of engineering design concepts and computer programing (writing code).

All schools are encouraged to apply for the grant, even if the below criteria is not met.
(all schools will be considered on a case-by-case basis)

Eligible recipients:

    • Must be in a school district within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
    • Are 2nd-11th grade students and instructors (any discipline or grade).
    • Have a Junior Botball® Challenge and/or Botball® program comprised of least 50% Muscogee (Creek) students and at least 50% of those must be females.* Proof of citizenship for Native American students must be provided if your team is accepted into the program.

*The above parameters can be flexible according to your school demographics and or population.

Junior Botball Challenge Awarded Schools will receive:

    • One-day professional development workshop
    • Ongoing professional development and school site support
    • Junior Botball® Challenge ® robotic kits (enough for multiple teams)
    • Standards-aligned curriculum
    • Activity mats
    • Participation in Junior Botball® Challenge events®.

Botball Awarded Schools will receive:

      • Two-day professional development workshop
      • Ongoing professional development and school site support
      • Botball® robotic kits
      • Standards-aligned curriculum
      • Participation in Botball® Competition ®.

Awarded Schools will:

        • Muscogee (Creek) Nation Junior Botball will support 100% of the grant.
        • The school will support the professional development visits to the school by the program manager (provide time, etc., upon agreement and scheduling with the program manager).
        • The school will assure that the Instructors from each school with a Junior Botball® Challenge grant attend at least one Professional Development workshop, and the team(s) participates in at least one Challenge event.
        • The school will assure that the Instructors from each school with a Botball® grant attend at least two Professional Development workshops, and the team(s) participate in at least one Challenge event and one Botball® competition.
        • Agree that all equipment will be returned to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation upon completion of the school year, unless other arrangements are made with the MCN Department of Education.
        • The school will assure teachers participate in student data collection used to determine program needs, improvement and effectiveness.
        • The school will assure teachers participate in a pre- and post-survey.
        • The school will assure they will have a Junior Botball® Challenge program and/ or Botball® program with membership comprised of  students in 2rd-11th grade.
        • The school will assure have a Junior Botball® Challenge or Botball® program comprised of least 50% Muscogee (Creek) students and at least 50% of those must be females.* Proof of citizenship for Native American students must be provided if your team is accepted into the program.
